TODDLER FITNESS – “Mommy or Daddy and Me” is a parent and child class for children ages 2-3 1/2. Classes are 60 minutes long and are designed to expose the students to numerous physical events and movement stations. Warm ups to music begin the class and both parent and child are introduced to the theme for each class. Parents are instructed on how to help their youngster with the physical aspects of the stations and enjoy the fun of seeing progress in skill, confidence, problem solving and social skills. There is no real waiting in line but the students are encouraged to observe the other students and play and participate cooperatively. Classes close with a music and/or parachute activity. Students may progress to the next level of KINDERGYM classes when they are ready to be in a class without the parent and are able to understand and follow directions and exhibit enough self control to participate freely but safely in a class with five other students.
MINI CO-ED GYMNASTICS PROGRAM – is a class for boys and girls ages 3 1/2 – 5 or 5 1/2. Children are grouped in co-ed classes typically no more than 6 months apart in their ages in order to keep the students well matched in basic ability and maturation levels. All of the basic gymnastics skills are developed with reinforcement to gross motor movement development and control. Music and imagination are combined with those gymnastics basics, locomotor skills and certain fine motor coordination activities to provide a well rounded physical education environment. Equipment includes skills and activities on balance beam, tumbling, trampoline, tumble trak, bars and vault with the addition of many specialized pre school apparatus and teaching tools to enhance their skills while working within the framework of their age and ability. Classes are 60 minutes long. When the students demonstrate development in skill, self control and concentration, they may be moved to regular Mini Gym classes.
GIRLS’ GYMNASTICS PROGRAM – In our 35+ years of experience teaching gymnastics, we have found that the majority of all students simply love the joy of moving their bodies in this special way. There is no doubt among physical education professionals that gymnastics is one of the most challenging and physically benificial sport activities in the world. It suits almost every child at their own levels, and it is certainly fun. Now we offer a new aspect to the program that gives the students even more. Everyone can fit in and everybody can shine. All students will have the opportunity to earn a medal for the successful completion of skills, beginning at the Bronze Level. It’s our hope that this plan motivates our GymTricks students toward personal goal setting in order to achieve their best. Students simply love the feel of gymnastics movements, and come once, sometimes twice, weekly to learn as much as they can. They all learn at their own pace, and that is why gymnastics fits almost everyone, as there is the opportunity to progress individually. Having goals for specific skills can be a great catalyst and can add much to their challenge and enjoyment. Our progressive program will allow them to see the lines of skills to be learned, and, once attained, they get an acknowledgement of that achievement and are encouraged toward the next level. Each level has several skill on each event, and the children only need to accomplish a percentage of those skills in order to pass the level; allowing for variations in age and interest. Each student will receive a poster to bring home in order to record their skills progress. At the end of each year students will show their parents, family and friends the skills they have learned in our Year End Show and will receive ribbons or medals for their accomplishments.
GRADE SCHOOL CLASSES / BOYS – for boys ages 7 and older, these classes stress strength and flexibility development and instruction on tumbling, vault, trampoline, single bar and rings. The emphasis is on the development of skill, strength, flexibility, coordination, and concentration.
JUMP & TUMBLE – a class for those students ages 6 to 8 and older who want to focus on tumbling and cheer jumps in preparation for junior high cheerleading programs. Use of the spring floor and some specialized back handspring development equipment provides a good environment for the learning of good tumbling basics. Our Tumbl Trak 30 foot tumbling trampoline will give all students the opportunity to do tumbling series work with less stress. Students will do special conditioning for the strength and flexibility necessary to develop strong jumps with good form. Great tumbling is all about great basics. “Begin here…”
